Bury St Edmunds chef and MasterChef star Hannah Gregory launches around the world food delivery service
A Bury St Edmunds woman who competed in this year’s series of MasterChef has launched a new service to help people enjoy summer holidays from the comfort of their own homes.
MasterChef quarter finalist Hannah Gregory launched a new supper club business called WanderSups in February, which offered food from around the world, but had to shut up shop after the country went into lockdown.
Now, the 34-year-old is offering an at-home delivery service, which will transport customers to a different destination each week through food and decorations from the country.
“During lockdown I saw that people were having their holidays cancelled and a friend who was meant to be going to Morocco asked if I could make her some food from there,” said Hannah, who has had to cancel holidays to Switzerland, Greece and Spain due to Covid-19.
“I thought it would be a fun idea to do some different menus based on different countries to show people who have had holidays cancelled that they can still enjoy themselves at home.”
Hannah will announce the weekly menus on the WanderSups Instagram page on Sundays, each of which is inspired by a country she has visited in the past. Upcoming countries include Mexico, Turkey and the USA. Customers will then be able to place orders for the following weekend up until midday on Wednesday.
“I try to go away for a month or so out of the year and always tend to plan my destination based on what foods I want to try,” she said.
And for those who want the full experience, there are boxes of decorations and props available as part of the venture.
“I’m really excited because this is something I’ve always been passionate about and although it’s nerve-wracking, I just hope people like the idea and the food,” said Hannah, whose dream it is to write a cookbook inspired by her travels.
Around the world with WanderSups launched on Sunday with the first menu – Greece – almost selling out in just 24 hours.
“You always wonder how it’s going to go so to have had this many messages when I’m just starting off is amazing,” she said.
