Forest Heath plans a 14.09 million green power project SUS-140430-094329001

A £14.09 million green community energy plan for Forest Heath will be the subject of an extraordinary council meeting next Tuesday.

From 6pm, councillors will hear a presentation on the plan to reduce its carbon footprint and save money but will then go into a private session to discuss costings and contracts.

Stephen Edwards, portfolio holder for resources, said today: “As well as making savings, Forest heath District Council is identifying ways to generate the income needed to maintain and improve services.

“We are currently investigating a project which would help us to deliver our Community Energy Plan. This is currently confidential, as we are engaged in commercially sensitive negotiations, and while this means that the report detailing the project to our 25 August meeting will have to remain exempt, the decision as to whether to invest £14.09m will be held in public.

“We then anticipate being able to make public further details about the project when negotiations are finalised next month.”
