Footage of aftermath of Wordwell forest fire




A Suffolk firefighter has released footage of the damage caused by a forest fire in Wordwell which took nearly 10 hours to extinguish this weekend.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to the blaze involving grassland and trees at King's Forest, off the B1106, at 9.24am yesterday.

The stop was logged at 7.58pm and a total of 16 fire engines including a crew from Thetford attended throughout the day working in shifts.

Crews returned this morning to dampen down a few hotspots and will return at 5pm to check the scene.

Crew commander Alex Smith shared footage of the aftermath on Twitter.

He said: "Already we are seeing forest fires in Suffolk causing a lot of damage and draining resources."
