MP Matthew Hancock is meeting Minister of State for Transport John Hayes MP on Wednesday to discuss the issues of the Fiveways roundabout at Barton Mills.

With the dualling of the A11 campaigners have wanted to see improvements at the five roads junctions which has been the scene of numerous accidents.

In his Ministerial role, Mr Hayes has direct responsibility for Highways England, the body responsible for the Fiveways roundabout.

Mr Hancock, who is Paymaster General and MP for West Suffolk, said: “I welcome the opportunity to meet with the Roads Minister to discuss the long-standing and serious problems with the Fiveways roundabout.

“Fiveways has been plagued with problems for too long now, resulting in serious accidents and delays for road users. It is vital that the system at the roundabout is permanently changed and I look forward to the meeting with John Hayes to discuss workable improvements and solutions to this ongoing issue.”

Calls have been made in the past for a flyover amd underpass at the junction and with extra housing coming in the future with re-development of RAF Mildenhall further traffic pressures are expected.
