Police make five arrests in connection with spate of burglaries across Mid Suffolk and South Norfolk

Five people have been arrested in connection with a spate of burglaries in Mid Suffolk and South Norfolk.

Officers carried out search warrants at five locations in Stowmarket, Wortham, Ipswich and Barham yesterday (July 8).

It came after a seven-month investigation, under the name Operation Askham, into a series of burglaries in the area.

Four men, aged 30, 49, 60 and 42, and a 48-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary.

They were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

John Smith, 30, of Kent Road, Stowmarket, was charged with attempted burglary and was released on bail.

The four others were also released on bail and all five individuals are due to return to police on Thursday, July 30.
