Firefighters from Bury St Edmunds were called to rescue two people in separate incidents in West Suffolk villages on Saturday morning.

They were called to rescue a child trapped in a car in Bury Road, Stanton, shortly after 8am.

At 9am they were called to gain entry to a property in Ryefields, Thurston, where an elderly man had fallen and got stuck behind his front door.

An ambulance crew was sent to assist and treated the man, believed to be in his 80s, for minor injuries before discharging him at the scene.
