Firefighters free woman trapped in car after collision with tree in Beck Row

Firefighters freed a woman who was trapped in a car after it collided with a tree in Beck Row last night.

Appliances from Brandon and Mildenhall as well as a rescue pump from Newmarket were called to the incident in The Common at 9.16pm.

They used specialised hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the vehicle and free the woman, aged in her 20s.

An ambulance crew, ambulance officer, hazardous area response team and East Anglian Air Ambulance also attended.

The woman suffered leg, pelvis and head injuries.

She was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.

An ambulance spokesman said: “Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”
