This dramatic scene of a van on fire was captured by 13-year-old Tom Upton on his way to school in Bury St Edmunds this morning (April 18).

Tom, of Fornham All Saints, was en route to King Edward VI School when he was confronted by ‘flames leaping out the front of the van’ in the Westley Road/Gainsborough Road area of the town.

A fire crew from Bury was called to the incident shortly after 8.20am. On arrival firefighters found a van ‘well alight’ and used two hose reels to extinguish the blaze.
