Fire in ground floor Bury St Edmunds flat

Firefighters were called to a fire in a flat in Bury St Edmunds in the early hours of this morning.

Two crews from Bury were sent to the incident in Anselm Avenue at around 4.45am and a third was sent shortly after because it was not known if anyone was inside.

Crews found a fire in the doorway of a ground floor flat and extinguished it using a hose reel jet.

They also led one person to safety.

They continued damping down the area and were back at base just after 6am.
