Fire crews had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to get into an empty commercial building in Lakenheath yesterday after smoke was seen coming from it.

One fire appliance from Mildenhall and one from Brandon were called to the premises in the High Street at about 4.15pm.

Once inside the single storey building which was heavily smoked logged, the crews found a small fire at the rear, which was quickly put out by a crew wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel jet.
