A wedding ‘reception’ has not only raised awareness of a debilitating condition but raised £600 to help fight it.
The event at Bury St Edmunds Farmers’ Club last Friday was a clever fund raising idea by Angie Bruns whose husband Kevin has cystic fibrosis which blocks the lungs and digestive system with mucus.
Angie and The Bridal Rooms in Bury’s Brentgovel Street organised the 65 Roses Wedding Fair to run like a wedding reception, complete with Kevin giving a speech about CF when the best man would normally have spoken.
Angie, from Qwysson Avenue, Bury, said: “I invited people I knew were CF supporters and Bridal Rooms invited their suppliers and customers.
“I’d like to thank all the businesses who took part. I was touched by the generosity of all the businesses.”
Not only did they donate raffle prizes but they supplied a wedding cake and did the models’ hair for free.
The fair raised £600 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Kevin said: “I’m really pleased with how much support and awareness it raised, and to see people having a fun time doing it.”
