A new business in Bury St Edmunds has clinched the winning prize in this year’s festive window competition run by Our Bury St Edmunds, the town’s business improvement organisation.
Nino’s Children’s Wear in Abbeygate Street opened in October and this week was judged the winner in the annual window dressing competition.
Runners up were Denny Brothers and Loft & Spires.
Julia Dyball, clerk to Bury St Edmunds Town Council, judged the entries and said: “It’s a lovely job to be asked to do - but this year it was almost impossible to pick just one winner and I spent ages taking photographs and working out a shortlist.
“I picked Nino’s because I loved the colour scheme of mainly red and white and I felt they had a perfect combination of decorations and merchandise on display.
“There were so many shops and businesses that I could have chosen as runners-up including a previous winner florist Tudor Rose and hair salons Bliss and Hair who have all got stunning windows this year but in the end I felt that Denny Brothers had really got the ‘wow factor’ with a beautiful window with giant snowballs, reindeer and fairy lights and Loft & Spires had made a tremendous effort too.”
Claire Gross, owner of Nino’s said: “I never dreamed I would win this competition though because there are so many stunning displays this year. It’s a great way to celebrate the shop’s first Christmas.”
