CELEBRATING a child’s first birthday and christening on the same day is reason enough to be proud.
But the festivities for new arrival Kai Britton at St Edmunds Catholic Church, in Bury St Edmunds, proved extra special as they marked the gathering of five generations of one family.
The dynasty is headed up by 91-year-old great-great grandmother Irene Stiff, of Ixworth.
Her son is Peter Stiff, 64, of Woolpit, who is Kai’s great-grandfather.
His daugther is Amanda Britton, 42, of Westhorpe and her son is Aaron Britton, 21, of Stanton, who is Kai’s father.
Christine Stiff, who is married to Peter, said: “It was a brilliant and very special day.
“The church and weather were lovely. “
When asked what it was like to have five generations of family in the same room, she said: “It was wonderful.
“We wanted to do it when he was born.
“Trying to get the family together was quite hard and because it was such a special occasion we wanted great-great nan there and she thoroughly enjoyed herself.”
