THE PARENTS of a promising young football player who died in a car accident 10 years ago have helped to raise more than £2,000 for a Suffolk head injury charity.
Robbie and Sandra Lucchi, from Moreton Hall, handed a cheque for £2,300 to West Suffolk Headway last week in memory of their son Marc.
Marc was just 18 years old when he was killed in a car accident on the A14, near the sugar beet factory, in Bury St Edmunds.
A fund-raising evening was organised by Marc’s friends Matt Taylor, Katie Redman and Danny Grimwood.
Sandra said: “We would like to thank everybody who attended.
“The evening exceeded all we thought it would be.”
Dave Taylor, general manager of West Suffolk Headway, said: “It was incredibly valuable and we are very grateful for the funds.
“We need to raise between £15,000 and £20,000 each year to keep the service going. This money will be specifically spent on buying time for external tutors to run activities here. It will provide us with more time for arts and crafts activities for people with brain injuries.”
