A WOMAN has been charged after a man was stabbed in the heart.
Teresa Gudanaviciene, 40, of Ben Culey Drive, Thetford, appeared at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to face one charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The Lithuanian national was charged in connection with the stabbing of 41-year-old Arunas Liutkus in Thetford.
Mr Liutkus was found by a passer-by in Croxton Road at around 12.20am on Monday morning with a single stab wound to his chest.
Having been rushed to Papworth Hospital in Cambridge in a critical condition, doctors found that the weapon had penetrated Mr Liutkus’ heart.
He remains in hospital and family members expect him to remain there for two to three weeks.
Gudanavicience was arrested a few hours after Mr Liutkus was found and charged by police on Tuesday.
Communicating through an interpreter, magistrates told her that she must attend Norwich Crown Court on April 4 for a first hearing.
She was not granted bail and will remain in custody until that date.
The court heard that she moved to England in February of 2010, moving to Thetford some time before September of that year.
