A VILLAGE has a new 2.5 acre woodland area with more than 1,000 trees thanks to a Woodland Trust initiative.
Clive and Nicky Fisher decided to return the land at Fasbourne Hall, in Buxhall, to grassland and to reinstate the field boundaries.
With help from the Woodland Trust MOREwoods programme, Mr and Mrs Fisher planted more than 1,000 trees on the land throughout March so that the future woodland would provide a wildlife corridor between other woods.
Clive said: “We have long been in love with trees and understand the special place they have in the land. All of us should be keenly aware of the need to address the loss of humanity’s respect for our planet.”
The Woodland Trust aims to encourage and help people to plant trees, with the overall aim of doubling woodland cover in the UK.
