Entries flood in for contest that gave you all ‘paws for thought’
It’s the contest that really set tails wagging after we received more than 200 entries in our hunt to find the picture perfect dog.
The judges are due to meet on Thursday to decide which canine is worthy of fronting St Nicholas Hospice Care’s Paws in the Park event and the winner will be announced in next week’s Bury Free Press.
The lucky dog will be the star of the posters, banners, programmes and marketing materials for the dog day on May 22.
The deadline for entries has now closed but here are a few examples of those we received.
Charlie Ruddock, fund-raising administrator, said: “We have a received a wonderful number of entries which is heart-warming.
“The community’s enthusiasm for this competition shows just how much the they love their furry friends. We are confident that Paws in the Park event will be a great addition to the local events calendar.”
The winning dog will not only appear on all marketing materials for Paws in the Park but its owner will win a 10in by 8in professional portrait of their dog and a family ticket (two adults and two children) for the event.
Paws in the Park, in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care and in partnership with Swayne and Partners, is on Sunday, May 22 on Hardwick Heath.
It will feature various dog-themed activities including a dog show and the chance to compete in a range of different classes, have-a-go agility areas and displays, chill-out area, dog portraits and trade stands.
