Elmswell’s fund raising fire fighters rolled out their hoses on Saturday for a car wash in aid of the village’s charities.

The on-call crew of Brian Hawes, Jon Pugh, Paul Kerridge, Mark Smith, Nick Mitchell, Steven Reid and David Pitwood (who is not in the picture) raised £450 with the wash.

The crew ranged from Brian who has been a fireman for 35 years to Mark who has been with them for a year, though his grandfather was also a fireman in the village.

Fortunately, they were not called out halfway through washing someone’s car.

They also run monthly bingo nights and do bag packing in the village co-op as well as other fund raisers.

Last year they raised £8,500 which was distributed round the village charities
