A FORMER chairman of Brandon Town Council has said he is delighted to be given the town’s Conservative nomination for county councillor.

Stephen Edwards, Brandon town and Forest Heath district councillor, will stand in the county elections as Conservative candidate for Brandon after he was selected by the West Suffolk Conservatives Association.

Cllr Edwards said: “I am absolutely delighted to get the chance to take over from Bill Bishop who has been an institution in Brandon for many years.”

Cllr Edwards was selected from a group including fellow district councillors, Tony Simmons and Eddie Stewart.

His selection is still to be ratified by the Conservatives’ executive council.
