School joins Olympic scheme

STUDENTS at Stowmarket High School have been celebrating their success after the school’s PE department was accepted as part of the Olympic Get Set network.

To qualify for membership of the network the school had to show that it had , and is adhering to Olympic and Paralympic values. These are friendship, excellence and respect and inspiration, determination, courage and equality.

Claire Ferguson, assistant headteacher, said the school was already running a ‘pupil of the lesson’ for Year 9 PE students and would be running special OIympic schemes of work in the summer.

Students have been visiting the Olympic park in east London and in the summer the school will host events based around Olympic sports with the primary and middle schools in the Gipping pyramid.

The school will also receive an allocation of Olympic tickets.
