PUPILS and teachers are celebrating after their school came top of the class with education watchdogs.

Lavenham Primary School has been rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted inspectors following a visit last month.

Reporting inspector Robert Greatrex commended the school, which ‘develops every aspect of every pupil’.

He said: “Analysis of each pupil’s results shows that progress through the school is excellent.

“Achievement is outstanding and pupils greatly enjoy every aspect of school life.”

He continued: “The curriculum is innovative and exciting so pupils are engaged and enthused.”

Mr Greatrex added: “The school never stands still, for example, subject leaders are currently extending their effective roles so that they are proactively developing and improving provision.”

Headteacher Jan Foster said: “I’m so pleased the report reflects the commitment, professionalism and skills of staff, hardwork and support of governors and families and the enthusiasm for learning of our children.”
