PUPILS have ensured their feathered friends are well catered for after creating a range of bird feeders.
The children at Norton Primary School made toasties, apple and popcorn strings as well as pine cone feed balls as part of the RSPB Big School Bird Watch.
The national scheme encourages schools to collate the numbers of different bird varieties they can spot within their school grounds.
At Norton they used the school bird hide to collect the figures, which they will forward to the RSPB.
Headteacher Stella Hart said: “We’ve taken part in this on previous occasions. The pupils were very enthusiastic and the activities have encouraged them to think about feeding the birds all year round.
“The project also encourages them to look after the environment.
“It’s an experience they won’t forget.”
