Dog walkers are being signed up to help sniff out crime as part of a new paws on patrol initiative.

The scheme asks dog walkers to register with police and report any suspicious behaviour they may see while walking their pets.

Four registration days will be held across Forest Heath over the next two months.

As well as signing up dogs can be micro-chipped, checked over by a veterinary nurse, get a complimentary goody bag and nutritional advice.

The sign-up days will be held in Newmarket, Brandon, Mildenhall and Red Lodge between 11am and 3pm.

The first, on February 2, will be held at The Severalls Pavilion in Newmarket.

The second at The Royal British Legion in Brandon on March 13.

Sign up at the Jubilee Centre, Mildenhall, will take place on March 20 and police will travel to The Millennium Centre, Red Lodge, on March 27.
