He has battled Daleks and beaten evil Cybermen, now Doctor Who will be landing his TARDIS in Bury St Edmunds market to help give free fruit to children.

Doctor Who will be joined by fans favourites K9 and Sarah Jane, as well as a Dalek and other baddies, for a Daleks and Dragons market event, organised by St Edmundsbury Borough Council, from 10am to 3pm on Wednesday (August 12).

As well as the doctor, there will be a free How to Train Your Dragon art workshop during which children can make dragon hand puppets. Traditional Punch and Judy shows will also be held throughout the day and children watching the Punch and Judy shows or taking part in the art workshop will be given a free piece of fruit to enjoy.

Cllr Alaric Pugh, St Edmundsbury Cabinet Member for Planning and Growth, said: “Hopefully people won’t be frightened away by the arrival of the Daleks on Bury market. I am sure the doctor will keep them at bay and that our Doctor Who market exhibition will prove a hit with fans, both young and slightly older.”

He added: “Children can also make their own dragons, enjoy a traditional seaside Punch and Judy show and tuck into a delicious and healthy free piece of fruit. All this and we will have our regular mix of loyal market traders selling everything from fruit and flowers through to DIY essentials, specialist coffees, pet care items and variety of tasty foods including freshly made popcorn in an array of flavours, lamb from The Culford Flock, Thai food and other lunchtime goodies.”
