The chief executive of Debenhams is set to leave the company, it has been reported.

Sergio Bucher is said to be moving on following the department store chain falling into administration last week.

Debenhams is a cornerstone shop in Bury St Edmunds's arc shopping centre, which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary.

Sports Direct boss Mike Ashley is understood to have had a £200million bid turned down for the 165-strong chain of shops.

It is now likely 50 shops will close, although it has not been announced which these will be.

Mr Bucher is set to be replaced in the next few days by veteran retail boss Terry Duddy - who is serving as interim chairman.
