DAY two of the Suffolk Show has been cancelled due to concerns about gale force winds.
Speaking on Radio Suffolk, the show’s director David Nunn, said that he felt he had to cancel the second day of the show due to concerns about public safety.
Christopher Bushby, executive director, said: “The reason we have decided to shut the show today is because we have been advised of a severe weather warning, with Force 9 winds predicted.
“This has not been an easy decision for us to reach, but it has been taken after careful consideration because we are not willing to take the risk with people’s lives.”
Winds of up to 19mph are forecast for Ipswich today and Mr Nunn told Radio Suffolk he was worried that visitors could be injured if any of the marquees at the showground were blown over in the high winds.
A process for refunding advance ticket holders will be announced in the coming days.
