A TEENAGER who was seen carrying a stolen television and running through the streets of Thetford was warned he will go to prison if he disobeys a court order.
Aaron Joseph Hutcherson, 18, of Ely Way, Thetford, admitted handling stolen goods at Bury Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Tess Mann, prosecuting, said Hutcherson was one of a group of four men who were seen on November 15 running through Thetford with a Samsung television, valued at £249.99, taken from the town’s Sainsbury’s store.
He told police he was standing in the street smoking a cigarette when a stranger gave him a television and he grabbed it and ran, said Mrs Mann.
He admitted he realised it must have been stolen.
In mitigation, Sally Dale said it was clear from CCTV that Hutcherson never went in to the store.
He was ordered to carry out 50 hours’ unpaid work and pay £50 in costs.
District judge David Cooper also made a 12 month court order and warned Hutcherson, ‘if you disobey it you will go inside’.
