AN 18-year-old has been given a 12 month community order for possession of a knife and assaulting a Pc.

Chloe Scott, of Horsefair Close, Mendlesham, appeared at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

She pleaded guilty to the two offences at a previous hearing.

Prosecuting, Rosalind Cappleman said that two police officers attended Mendlesham at about 12.30am on August 20 after receiving an emergency call from Scott who said she had a knife and was going to harm herself. When they could not find Scott they left the village but returned after receiving another call and found her with a knife. She was arrested and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where she became resistant and ‘kicked out like a horse’ striking one of the officers, said Miss Cappleman.

Claire Lockwood, in mitigation, submitted a probation report to the magistrates.

Scott was ordered to pay £50 compensation, given a supervision order for 12 months and must also attend a women’s emotional well being programme. Forfeiture and destruction of the knife was ordered.
