Police warning after spate of thefts from cars

SUFFOLK Police have advised car owners not to leave possessions in their cars after a spate of sat nav thefts.

Police are linking four vehicle break-ins in Red Lodge with a burglary in Brandon.

Police are appealing for information on the break-ins, which all took place between 4pm on December 21 and 10.30am on December 22.

Sat navs were stolen from a blue Chevrolet and an insecure beige Peugeot in Tayberry Close, and from a grey Pontiac in Cherry Court. A bag was also stolen from a black Honda Civic parked on a driveway in Orchid Drive – it was later found discarded nearby.

Offenders gained entry to the Chevrolet by damaging a lock. They broke into the Pontiac and Honda Civic by an unknown means.

Police are reminding drivers to keep vehicles secure at all times and to remove any items of value while they are left unattended.

They advised people to remove the leads and cradle, to wipe the mark left by the suckers off the windscreen, and to switch the Bluetooth facility off if they leave their sat nav hidden in the car.

Police are also appealing for information after offenders broke into outbuildings at a farm in Gas House Drove, Brandon. Offenders gained entry between 5.30pm on December 21 and 10.30am the next day by cutting padlocks, and stole plumbing and heat fittings, pipes and cabling.

Anyone with any information should contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
