TWO more people have been arrested as police continue their investigation into the death of jeweller Peter Avis.
Mr Avis, 66, was found in his flat above his Abbeygate Street shop on on Friday, January 13.
A post-mortem investigation showed he had died from stab wounds.
This week, police arrested an 18-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man both of West Bank in London. They were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and have been bailed until Wednesday, 13 June.
The murder also began a manhunt for Pyotr Melanuik, 28, whom police wanted to question in connection with the incident. He was later tracked down in Poland after being detained by police on an unrelated matter and talks are ongoing over his extradition to Britain.
A number of others were arrested and some were bailed and some charged with offences connected to the incident.
Kamil Kita, 20, of no fixed address, has been charged with Mr Avis’s murder while two others were also charged with conspiracy to commit burglary.
Pawel Pacian, 35, of Lake Avenue, Bury and Pawel Borowiecki, 30, of Roslyn Road, London, have been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary. All three are in custody.
Six others have been arrested and bailed.
A 30-year-old man from London arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed to May 23 while a 35-year-old man from Bury was also arresteds on suspicion of murder and bailed to May 22.
An 18-year-old man from Bury was arrested on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to commit burglary and was bailed to May 9 and a 27-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary was also bailed to May 9
A 26-year-old man from Bury was arrested on conspiracy to commit burglary and bailed to May 11 a 19-year-old woman from London was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and was bailed to April 18.
