A SCHOOL sports coach who sexually touched a 15-year-old girl has been jailed.
Brion Davis, 35, of Sycamore Drive, Beck Row, ignored warnings to end his relationship with the girl, Ipswich Crown Court heard last Friday.
Davis’ relationship with the girl had progressed from friendship to touching and kissing over an eight-week period, according to Michael Crimp, prosecuting.
Mr Crimp said the girl’s mother had grown concerned at the way the relationship between Davis and her daughter was developing and warned him to stop seeing her.
The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been on friendly terms with Davis’ family.
She had also asked Davis to stop contacting her but he continued to do so.
Davis pleaded guilty to five offences of sexual activity with a child between October 24 and December 29 last year.
Stephen Dyble, in mitigation, said the case had cost Davis his career.
He added that Davis was estranged from his wife who was to return to the USA at the end of the year, after which Davis would have to leave the UK on his release from prison as his visa relied on her being on military service in the country.
The sexual touching had taken place over a four-week period and his client had now expressed remorse for his actions, according to Mr Dyble.
He said: “It was a very brief relationship with someone who the defendant clearly had genuine affection for.”
Judge John Devaux jailed Davis for eight months and said reports indicated that the girl was vulnerable at the time of the offences.
Davis was ordered to sign on the Sexual Offences Register for 10 years.
