Man charged with theft from Bury St Edmunds jewellery shop

A MAN has been charged with the theft of almost £1,500 worth of jewellery from a shop in Bury St Edmunds.

Police were called to Abbeygate Street yesterday at around 4.30pm following reports that items had been taken from an assistant in Romark Jewellers.

Members of the public assisted in detaining a man on High Baxter Street.

Items of jewellery were recovered.

The man was arrested and taken to the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Jamie Blake, 18, of no fixed address, has been charged with the theft of £1,450 worth of jewellery and is due before Bury St Edmunds Magistrates on January 6.
