Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Bury St Edmunds

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident in Bury St Edmunds.

Police were called at around 2.50pm to reports of an injured man in a property in Gosnold Street - one of the main streets on the arc shopping centre.

He was taken to West Suffolk Hospital where he was treated for stab wounds and currently remains in a stable condition.

It is believed the incident took place sometime between 4.30am and 5.30am yesterday.

A 32-year-old man from the Bury area was arrested yesterday evening. He is currently in custody at the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.

Police are appealing for a man who phoned police to report a disturbance in the area of the arc shopping centre at around this time to get in contact again. He did not leave his details and may hold important information.
