A man who died following an incident in Honington has today been named by police as Leslie Metcalfe.

The 23-year-old from Honington died in Papworth Hospital on Thursday. A post mortem examination revealed that he died from a single stab wound to the heart.

He was taken to West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds, on Wednesday after an incident in Poplar Close, Honington. He was then transferred to Papworth Hospital where he later died.

Mr Metcalfe’s death is being treated as murder and investigations are ongoing.

The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be opened in due course.

A 22-year-old woman, who was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident, remains on police bail to return to Bury Police station on March 23.
