Father and son fall down stairs during assault

A man who attacked his father - leading the pair to fall down a flight of stairs - has received a 10-month community order.

Wayne King, 28, of Fishponds Way, Haughley, pleaded guilty to assaulting Anthony King at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

King had been living with his father in Castle Rise, Haughley, before the incident on April 7.

Prosecuting, Nikki Miller said King had come home drunk and an argument had broke out.

She said: “Mr King grabbed his father by the throat while they were stood upstairs.The pair fell down the stairs, crashing though a stair guard.”

Antony King received injuries to his forehead, neck and legs.

King was given a 10-month community order with supervision, an alcohol specified activity requirements and thinking skills activities. He is subject to a restraining order and had to pay costs of £30 and a victim surcharge of £60.
