Police say they are treating the double shooting at Willow Park, Beck Row as murder.
Armed police were called to the travellers’ site just after 10.15pm last night after a woman contacted police saying she had heard what she thought were a number of gun shots.
Officers then took reports that there was a fire on the site.
Armed police and the fire service attended and on arrival found a car on fire at the entrance to the site and a man on the ground. He was dead and appeared to have sustained gun shot wounds.
A second body was found in the car. This man had also suffered gun shot wounds.
People living around the scene were evacuated due to the fact that there were gas cannisters on the site.
The murder is being investigated by the Norfolk and Suffolk Police Joint Major Investigation Team.
This morning police said that they the deaths were thought to be connected to an ongoing dispute.
