A young driver has been warned he may face jail for dangerous driving on the A140 at Mendelsham.
Bury St Edmunds magistrates last Friday committed William Maurice Newton, 21, of Haughley Drive, Rushmere St Andrew, to Ispwich Crown Court because they felt he should get a greater punishment than they could impose.
Rosalind Cappleman, prosecuting said witnesses told of Newton driving erratically, wandering to the wrong side of the road for some miles. At Mendelsham he crossed a solid white line, colliding with another car whose driver received serious bruising and whiplash and was off work for three months.
A medical report said Newton, who had been at a party until the early hours, had 9 microgrammes of alcohol and 51 microgrammes of cannabis in 100 millilitres of blood, but could not state whether that combination would impair driving.
