Crown court trial on assault charges

Michael Dingley,36, was committed to Ipswich Crown Court by Bury St Edmunds Magistrates today on two charges of causing actual bodily harm and one of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

Dingley, who is currently serving a jail sentence at Norwich Prison, is charged with assaulting two men in Bury St Edmunds on October 16, causing actual bodily harm.

He is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon, namely a metal bar, at Gibraltar Barracks in Newmarket Road, Bury, on the same day.

He was remanded in custody until June 21.
