Crews battled a fire involving four derelict houses in Stowmarket this morning.

Emergency services were called at around 2.30am in the early hours of Thursday, June 18, to the fire on Kingsmead Close.

Engines from Stowmarket and Needham Market were deployed to the scene.

A Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Fire Control received multiple further calls stating this was more than one property and the roof was now involved in the fire and as a result mobilised one appliance from Elmswell, another from Ipswich East along with the Aerial Ladder Platform from Ipswich East.

“On arrival crews found four derelict properties involved in the fire.”

Firefighters used four sets of breathing apparatus, three 45m jets and two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.

The fire was under control by 4.23am.
