Emergency services were called to a single vehicle collision on the A11 last night after a woman in her 30s fell ill at the wheel.
Police were called at around 7.30pm, on Tuesday October 20, to reports that a Nissan Qashqai had crashed into the central reservation near the Elveden War Memorial.
The road was closed in both directions and the air ambulance called to the scene.
The woman was eventually taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by land ambulance.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The ambulance service received a call at 7.34pm to reports of a woman in her early 30s who had fallen ill at the wheel and crashed into the central reservation on the A11 near the Elveden War Memorial.
“We sent an ambulance crew, ambulance officer and the East Anglian Air Ambulance who treated her at the scene.
“She was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by land ambulance for further treatment in a serious condition.”
