Couple sought after dog bites boy in Bury

A couple who ran off after their dog bit a boy in Bury St Edmunds last Monday (August 8) have come forward after a police appeal.

The boy was on a scooter off Beetons Way, near the footpath parallel to Beetons Lodge and Eagle Walk, at about 6:45pm when he passed a man and a woman walking a dog on a lead. The dog turned and bit him, breaking the skin which needed treatment.

The dog is described as a short-legged, longer-nosed Staffordshire bull terrier type, with a brindle coat.

A police spokeswoman said the owners came forward and will now have to keep the dog muzzled and on a lead in public places.
