Council wants project in Bury St Edmunds to underway
Councillors have been assured of sufficient demand for the proposed Suffolk Business Park to warrant taking a risk in funding £4.5 million on electricity infrastructure to serve it.
St Edmundsbury Borough Council agreed on Tuesday to increase its New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership loan application to pay for the electricity works, which it plans to recoup, along with the loan interest rates, through commercial spaces at the park.
Members also discussed making a compulsory purchase order (CPO) to acquire land for the Eastern Relief Road, which will link the business park to the A14.
A final decision on the CPO - a ‘last resort’ in negotiations - will be made at a special meeting on March 25.
