A council has succeeded in making a bankruptcy order against a man who owed it ‘a six figure sum’ of money.

On March 7, Forest Heath District Council filed a petition in the Bury St Edmunds County Court for a bankruptcy order against Daniel Peter Bird, of Pintail Close, Lakenheath.

It was granted on May 7 and was published in the London Gazette on Wednesday.

A council spokesman said the ‘six figure sum’ owed was for business rates and that applying for the order was the council’s ‘last resort’.
