Get your skates on if you want tickets for the coolest attraction in Bury St Edmunds over Christmas and New Year.
Advance ticket sales for Bury St Edmunds’ first real ice rink have opened earlier than expected so those who want to guarantee their place on the ice on a particular date or time, or to give tickets as a gift, are being encouraged to take advantage of the pre-booking facility before the general box office opens.
The ice rink, which is being brought to the town by the Business Improvement District (BID) organisation Ourburystedmunds, will be in the arc shopping centre from December 5 and open every day, except Christmas Day, until January 3.
During the first two weeks it will be possible to hire the rink for exclusive party bookings.
BID Director Wil Bryant who has been leading the project said: “We know that there are some dates that are going to be especially popular – the first day of the school holidays or Boxing Day for example – so we have opened up this special pre-booking facility ahead of the box office opening later this month.”
The organisers of the ice rink hope that as well as the general sessions, which are expected to attract hundreds of visitors, it will appeal to those holding Christmas parties in the town who want to work up an appetite for their meal with a skating session before heading on to their celebration. Exclusive party bookings are available on weekdays and evenings, during the first two weeks of opening.
Tickets are £8.50 for adults, or £5.50 for under 12s, for 30 minutes on the ice and free skate hire, and a family ticket for four including up to two adults is £22.50.
To book tickets or enquire about hiring the ice rink for a private group booking contact Jackie Regan in the Ourburystedmunds office on 01284 766258 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
An online box office is expected to open towards the end of October.
