Consultation events for Bury St Edmunds education shake-up revealed

The consultation event dates have been revealed for a proposed shake-up of education and closure of middle schools in Bury St Edmunds.

School staff, governors, parents and members of the community are invited to the events as part of the school organisation review consultation which runs from October 7 to December 13.

The events, which all start at 6.30pm, are at:

Abbots Green CP School on November 20, which also includes Sebert Wood Primary School

All Saints, Lawshall, CEVCP School on November 12, which also includes Great Whelnetham Primary School

Guildhall Feoffement CP School on November 14

Hardwick Primary School on November 4

Howard Primary School on November 6

Ickworth Park Primary School on November 26

Risby CEVCP School on November 27

Riverwalk on October 23

Sextons Manor CP School on October 24

St Edmundsbury CEVAP School on December 3

Tollgate Primary School on November 19

Westgate Primary School on November 13

Hardwick Middle School on October 15

Howard Middle School on October 17

St James CEVA Middle School on October 14

King Edward VI CEVC Upper School on November 7

Moreton Hall Community Centre regarding the new high school/academy on November 25

Councillor Lisa Chambers, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member for education, skills and young people, said: “It’s vital there is thorough consultation on the SOR process and that people feel they have all the information they need to be able to take part.

“These events are taking place to ensure we give everyone concerned with the SOR process in Bury St Edmunds a voice.

“Its a real opportunity for people to find out more about the proposals and ask their questions. I’d encourage anyone interested in the SOR process in the area to attend an upcoming event.”
