Conservatives narrowly beat UKIP to win council seat

Conservative councillor John Bloodworth has been elected to Forest Heath District Council.

Cllr Bloodworth beat UKIP candidate councillor David Chandler by three votes to represent Market ward.

Both Cllr Bloodworth and Cllr Chandler sit on Mildenhall Parish Council of which Cllr Bloodworth is currently the chairman.

The turnout for the election was 16.88 per cent with 534 votes cast.

Five ballot papers were rejected for being unmarked or unclear.
