A new drive-through restaurant and petrol station at Fiveways roundabout could exacerbate existing traffic problems, councillors have said.

Mildenhall Parish Council has submitted a notice of their concerns in reference to the amenities’ proposed access and exit points which join the A1101 at Mildenhall and the A1605.

Cllr Gerald Taylor-Balls said: “The concern is the exit from the new development which will come on to the A1101 which is the same road as the Mildenhall traffic trying to get on the roundabout.

“We think it’s going to make it a lot worse with all the traffic having to come out.”

An application was submitted on July 5 to demolish existing buildings at the Barton Mills roundabout and build a new McDonald’s restaurant and petrol station.

The application will be determined by Forest Heath District Council.
