Concern after blood trail found in Newmarket

A blood trail and discarded clothes caused concern amongst Newmarket residents today.

The blood and clothes were found in All Saints Road. With no explanation police investigated the matter, with forensic examination of the blood taking place.

Police found a man had been injured during an altercation in the early hours of this morning.

A police spokesman said: “Police would like to thank members of the public for their assistance following several reports of blood trails and discarded clothing on the pavements in Newmarket town centre this morning.

“Officers placed a cordon on All Saints Road whilst forensic examination of the marks took place and enquiries were made to trace the injured parties.

“As a result, those involved were identified and the blood was found to have been left by a man with a hand injury sustained during an altercation between two groups during the early hours.

“He was otherwise safe and well.”

“All scenes have now been lifted and enquiries are ongoing.

“We would ask anyone with information relating to the original incident contact us on 101 and quote our incident number 87.”
