Community backs first Moreton Hall Sale Trail planned for September 15
Moreton Hall residents are preparing to set up stalls on their driveways and gardens for the Bury St Edmunds estate’s first sale trail next Sunday.
The trail is the brainchild of Chaffinch Road resident Amanda Wigzell, who saw the success of a similar event elsewhere in the town and felt it could be replicated.
Now, more than 90 homes across the estate have signed up, with each paying a donation to Tommy’s, which Amanda is supporting when she runs the London Landmarks half marathon in March.
But before she gets her running shoes on, Amanda will be joining other residents on September 15, selling outside her home from 11am-2pm.
“When I suggested the idea to my husband he didn’t think it would raise enough, but lo and behold, in less than three weeks we have raised just under £550 and have more than 80 homes taking part,” said Amanda.
Residents have rallied together to support the initiative, with many volunteering to distribute 3,000 flyers across the estate.
“The way the community has come together for it is phenomenal,” said Amanda.
The Coffee House, in Lawson Place, will be selling sale trail maps on September 14 and 15, with all funds also going to Tommy’s.
