A man from Combs has been found guilty of raping and holding captive a woman at his home.
Trevor Robertson, 53, of Scotts Yard, had denied the offences but was convicted by a jury at Ipswich Crown Court yesterday (Thursday).
Robertson was found guilty of two offences of rape, one of making threats to kill and one of false imprisonment.
He had subjected the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, to an overnight ordeal at his home after persuading her to visit on the pretext of them enjoying a night out at a theatre.
The woman told the court how Robertson had twice raped her and threatened her with a syringe.
She managed to flee after Robertson left a key in a door and she was able to run to the home of a neighbour for help.
Giving evidence, the woman said she feared that Robertson, who had the previous day purchased a shotgun, was going to kill her.
Recorder Ms Aneesta Weeks who presided over the trial told Robertson that he would be held in custody until he is sentenced on a date yet to be arranged.
